I’m excited to show you my new “Roll and Draw – Totem Pole Art lesson”, a creative and educational way to introduce your students to Native American art.

This art activity is perfect for introducing students to Pacific Northwest art and the rich tradition of totem poles. Whether you’re looking for a standalone lesson, an emergency sub plan, or a summer activity, this low-prep lesson is perfect for you.

With a roll-and-draw chart, step-by-step instructions, and a brief introduction to totem poles and Native American art, this lesson is easy to follow and engaging for students. All you need are soft pastels, black paper, and fixative spray (although oil pastels or colored pencils on white paper can also be used).

A 2022-es Győrkőcfesztiválon pasztellkrétával totemoszlopokat rajzoltunk fekete hosszúkás lapra (egy A3-as lap hosszában felezve vagy harmadolva), egy újabb dobókockás táblázat segítségével! Tanteremben is kipróbáltam, teljes osztállyal is működik, bár lehet, hogy egyszerűbb fehér papírra olajpasztellel dolgozni.
